Non-Traditional Marketing Techniques

Monday, October 10th, 2011

If you don’t tell people you’re in business you won’t have success. They aren’t going to know what you have to offer if you don’t tell them how you can help them and where to find you. It just isn’t going to happen, so you must use marketing to make it happen.
There are many different ways to market your business. Some of them are traditional like social networking, banner ads, text ads, and links. These are used by a lot of different types of businesses and they’re very successful when used properly.

You also will find non-traditional marketing techniques that work very well. Some of these are not thought of by some, but have been very successful by those that have used them. Here are a few of the non-traditional methods you need to consider.

1. Flyers

Flyers are a great way to get the word out about your business in general or something specific you want everyone to know about. It’s important to include just enough information to get them to either call you or visit your website. You need to make sure these are easy to read and you need to make sure you include contact information. read more

How to use Leads to Grow your Business

Wednesday, September 28th, 2011

When you run a business from home it’s important you grow whenever it’s possible. Using the internet is one of the best ways to make that happen, but it won’t work if you don’t try every day to make it happen. You can use your website to make it all happen, but it’s important to know nothing will happen if you don’t promote your website.

Promoting your website can be done through social networking, online parties, and advertising through buttons, banners, and text ads. While those are traditional ways to grow your business, one non-traditional way to grow is to use leads. It’s becoming more and more popular and easier to use.

A lead is a person that is interested in what you offer. There are a number of ways to gather these leads, but it’s important to know how these leads are gathered and how they work before you use them. One of the most important things to understand with leads is unless you spend a large amount of money on them, you’re not the only one to purchase them. read more

How Important is your Website when you run a Home Based Business?

Saturday, September 17th, 2011

When you run a home based business your website is your store front. It’s the only way people know what you offer and what your prices are. This is the main reason it’s important to have it look as professional as possible.

If you’re series with your business you must be series about your website and that means you must have a site that looks professional. The best way to do this is to pay for your website each month. You’ll want to pay the yearly fee for a domain name and a monthly fee for your hosting. Free sites often times have ads on them that you have no control over and the domain in the address bar will include more then the domain you choose. For example, if you use blogger for a blog your domain will read “yourdomain.blogger.com”.

Another thing you need to keep in mind when it comes to your site is the open time. If you have too many images or video’s on your site, the open time will be lengthy and this may cause people to close it without seeing what you offer. It’s important to test this when you add these types of files to your site. You should check these in Internet Explorer and FireFox just to be safe. read more

Is a Work at Home Job for You?

Author Corrie     Category Work At Home     Tags Tags: , ,

When you own a business, most of the time the money you make is not guaranteed from month to month. While you’d like to think it is, it’s not because your clients or customers can change their minds at any time. For example, if you have a service business that offers something every month, you may have a client that pays for your service each month, but if something changes, they may stop paying you. This in turn means you’re without money.

If you work a job from home, you’re less likely to run into this problem. That’s not to say you won’t, but you’ll have a lesser chance then you would if you worked your own business. When you work a job, there are several ways to have the job end. One would be if you didn’t do the work and the other would be if things were slow and they couldn’t afford to pay you.

Working a job from home requires you to be dedicated and you must have a will to make it work. You can’t put off your work just because there is a good show on TV or because you don’t feel like working that day. You must treat the job just like you would if you worked in an office setting. read more

Two Options for Making Money from Home

Thursday, July 21st, 2011

There are times when working outside of the home is not an option. It may be due to a new baby in the family or the expenses you incur when you work outside the home. No matter what the reason is, if you must work from home, you have options.

One option is to work a job from home. Working a job from your home is different than running a business from home. The difference is one you own and one you don’t. Working a job from your house is no different than working a job from outside the home except you don’t commute to an office building. Your commute is to your office or living room.

This option works for those that have the ability to either find a company out there that allows their employees to work from home. If you currently work outside the home, you should consider asking your supervisor if it’s possible to work from home several times a week. If you choose to talk to your current supervisor regarding this option, you need to do your homework and share that information with him. You’ll also need to make sure you come up with a way for him to know you’re getting your work done and that he can trust you to make it happen. read more

Meal planning can be a challenge when you work outside the home, but many people think it’s easy when you work from home. This is not always the case so we’re going to look at different options busy work at home parents can use to make meals the best they can be.

Just because you’re at home all day working your business doesn’t mean you have the time for magnificent meals every single day. Running a business takes a lot of time and that means you don’t have that time to put into a meal like that. So what are the options you have? Here are just a few for you to consider.

1. Crockpot Meals

Crockpot meals are one of the easiest meals to create. You combine your ingredients and cook them all day. How simple is that? There are so many different things you can make that you shouldn’t have a complaint from your family about repeat meals.

There are meals you can purchase at the store that are specifically designed for a crockpot or you can purchase a cookbook that contains only recipes for your crockpot. Do You have an Affiliate Program for Your Business?

Sunday, March 13th, 2011

Certain businesses are perfect for affiliate programs while others are not. For example a direct sales business like Avon is a business you can’t do an affiliate program for, but if you own a coaching business you could.

The easiest way to decide if you can do an affiliate program for your business is to know if you can do it or not based on your business. If you receive checks from a company the answer is no, but if you receive payments yourself from clients and you don’t report to anyone but yourself, then you may be able to do it. Companies like Avon, Sentsy, and Lia Sophia don’t allow you to do an affiliate program because you’re basically an affiliate for them. Now if you’re a coach or if you offer info products you’ll have the ability to do an affiliate program.

Once you decide you can do an affiliate program you need to think about how you want to run it. The first thing you need to do is find a program you’ll use to make it work. There are a number of programs you can use, but these are the top three I would suggest. read more

3 Options for Automatically Posting Your Blog to Social Networking Sites

Saturday, March 5th, 2011

In the past we’ve discussed the importance of social networking, but we have not discussed the importance of your blog and social networking. Your blog is one of the easiest ways to communicate with your network. It’s your blog and you have the ability to add whatever you want. You also have the ability to post as often as you like. This gives you the freedom to post about your business as often as you see fit or you don’t have to. It’s totally up to you.

Once you have your blog created and you’re posting to it, you need to make sure others will see it. You should have a visible link to your blog on each page of your site and you might also consider a link on other places you’ll be seen. Social networking is a great way to have that visibility with little to no work on your part. You have basically three options to choose from and they’re discussed below.

1. Twitterfeed

The first option is Twitterfeed. Now you may think it’s only good for Twitter, but that’s not the case. You can add Facebook as well. You’ll need an RSS feed to do this option and you can get that through Feedburner.com. Once you have the feed you’re ready to create an account and get your Twitter and Facebook accounts added. read more
